Darbar Hall Museum Gujarat
A former palace of erstwhile Nawabs of Junagadh now turned into a museum, Darbar Hall Museum, is a fascinating place to see around Gir National Park. The museum is a heritage in itself and also houses many possessions of the Nawabs and other belongings from the older times. It is one of the finest museums of the state and a must-visit destination for people intrigued by history and its stories.
This old palace building is a stunning example of architecture with pink-coloured walls, domes, and parapets. The museum has a collection of around 2900 artefacts from the 19th century which offers a glimpse into the life of Nawabs in Junagadh. It has a picture and painting gallery, a palanquin gallery, a weapons gallery, textile and costumes and silverwares.
Brief History of Darbar Hall Museum
The building is officially quoted to have been built in the year 1964 by the government survey authority, yet some sources claim it to have been built around the time of India's independence in the year 1947. Initially, it was used as the courthouse by the royales but was later converted into a museum when left of no use to the royal family. Not this attraction showcases collections from the Nawab era and provides a window into their time.
